Why I created this website

I am a Consultant Clinical Oncologist. I created DrAlHilali.com as an independent home for clear explanations about cancer, treatment and oncology research.

People often meet unfamiliar language at an already difficult time. My aim is to explain medical ideas in a calm, direct way while being honest about uncertainty and the limits of general information.

The articles and videos are intended for patients and families, in the UK and internationally. Where information depends on a particular healthcare system, I will make that clear.

Editorial approach

• Use British English and explain technical terms when they are needed.
• Separate general principles from guidance that is specific to a country or healthcare system.
• State uncertainty and limitations rather than presenting every question as having one simple answer.
• Review articles when relevant evidence or clinical practice changes.
